Stabat Mater, Antonín Leopold Dvorák's beautiful and dramatic choral-orchestral work, is so popular in Dvorák's home country that it is known as the "Czech Messiah".

Pre-concert Lecture: 2:15 pm in the Christ King Parish Dining Hall.
This pre-concert lecture about the tragic events leading to Dvorák's composition of Stabat Mater will be given by Bernadette Prochaska, a Franciscan Sister and professor at Marquette University. Her experience of teaching in Prague and visiting Dvorák's home and the Church where he composed his glorious music will offer an insight that is guaranteed to elevate your experience.

Stabat Mater, Antonín Leopold Dvorák's beautiful and dramatic choral-orchestral work so popular in Dvorák's home country that it is known as the "Czech Messiah" is known for its unique characteristics. A former artistic director at the National Conservatory in New York City, Antonin Dvorák composed a musical journey with Stabat Mater that was brought on by deep sorrow and a love of his lost children.
